I don’t have much to say about this month’s playlist. I think it speaks for itself. (Plus, I think the Mood section of this post drops enough hints.)

This is the last summer playlist of 2020, and I figured we ought to go out with a bang. If I had to describe it quickly, I’d say: There’s a bit of bravado among a roaring sea of vulnerability. It says: Your time is limited, so be clear about who you are and what you want. And for Christ’s sake, speak up.

A few notes about the selected songs for August:

Mood: Music for Lovers AND Fighters, They Don’t Get to Define You, The Hills You’ll Die On, Open Up That Throat Chakra, Power Sources, Stunts on the Runway, Cracks In the Walls We Put Up, The Girl Has Levels, Grown Folks Music, Retrogrades and Retrospectives, Strength in Vulnerability

Included Artists: Beyoncé, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion,  Wale, G-Eazy, Niña Dioz, Ruby Amanfu, Labrinth, Zendaya, David Bowie, Dolly Parton, Judith Hill, Rihanna, RuPaul, Big Freedia, Phil Collins, Billie Eilish, Whitney Houston, P!nk, Jennifer Holliday, Donna Summer, Shakira, The Pointer Sisters, AC/DC, Prince, Alejandro Sanz, Rufus, Chaka Khan, CHIKA

Genres: R&B, Pop, Rap, Hip-hop, Indie Pop, Progressive Rock, Country, Electropop, Disco, Hard Rock, Funk Rock, Latin Pop, Funk, and Soul

As always, I’ve made the playlist public, so go ahead and follow it, if you’d like.

Here’s the playlist for August. Enjoy!
