Spring Playlist, Part 3: May 2019

It’s probably pointless to post May’s playlist so close to its end but there are a couple of reasons behind why I’m going to anyway.

First, Beyoncé and Lizzo recently released like three albums between them, and I’m not gonna wait another two weeks just to put them on June’s playlist. I know it’s only May, but we all need Beyoncé’s Lemonade and Lizzo’s Juice right now. We all need some form of refreshment after this terrible, dry-ass month.

Second, I think we can all agree that May has been rough. And instead of just coming up with another self-care playlist, I think this month requires a little more oomph. Which brings me to this month’s playlist theme: Take Up Space: You Deserve To Be Here. I don’t know about you, but I think this month has been all about overcoming May’s nonsense and not playing small, advocating for myself, and learning to let go of the people and things that inhibit my growth.

A few notes about the selected songs for May:

Mood: Go Get Yours, Put Some Respect On This Drumline, You Deserve To Be Here, Queens March, Take Up Space, Let ‘Em Go: They’re Not Going Where You’re Going

Included Artists: Lizzo, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Elle King, Big Freedia, Megan Thee Stallion

                Genres: R&B, Pop, Rap, Hip-hop

As always, I’ve made the playlist public, so go ahead and follow it, if you’d like.

Here’s the playlist for May. Enjoy!
